What do CHI au pairs, a shopping center, the San Francisco 49ers, ice cream, and selfies have in common? The latest fun au pair group outing, of course!
17 CHI Au Pair USA participants in the San Francisco Bay Area recently gathered together for a big scavenger hunt. They had a great turnout, with au pairs from 10 different countries in attendance. Participants met at the Westfield San Francisco Centre on Market Street in downtown San Francisco and were immediately split up into four groups. Each was given a list of challenges and sent on their way. Teams consisted of au pairs from different countries, so speaking English and working together was a must!
The four teams raced around the mall completing tasks and answering questions as quickly as they could. Tasks included: answering which three stores sell ice cream, obtaining three samples from Ghirardelli Chocolate, taking a photo of the highest priced item you can find (side note – the winner was a $123,000 ring from Tiffany’s), taking a ‘selfie’ of your entire team in the San Francisco 49ers Team Store, obtaining one whole coffee bean from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, taking a ‘selfie’ of your team wearing green items found on location, collecting three sample tasting spoons from Haagen-Dazs, taking a photo of your team holding ingredients needed for a picnic with friends, and visiting Aveda and taking a photo of the entire team while getting hair consultations and product samples.
It took the winning team about an hour and a half to complete the scavenger hunt. Members of that team each received $15 Starbucks gift cards, while members of the second place team each received $10 Starbucks gift cards. In the end, prizes or not, the day was a success. Everyone worked together, made some new friends, learned a bit about San Francisco, and had a great time.
