CHI Academic Year Program (AYP) office and field staff recently converged on Las Vegas, NV for the AYP annual training conference. From February 21st – 26th 48 participants from around the U.S. participated in workshops, seminars and team building activities. Some of the highlights included an excellent cultural workshop by CHI co-founder Tom Areton, a tour of the fascinating Hoover Dam and a picnic in the Valley of Fire. The group also visited Fremont Street and had a team building scavenger hunt on The Strip.
There were many great presentations and workshops, but most rewarding was the opportunity for staff to get to know each other better, sharing ideas and exploring the benefits of student exchange together. With great high spirits the week’s fun concluded with an ‘Old Las Vegas’ closing dinner.
Tom and Lilka Areton, on behalf of the CHI Board of Directors, announced during the recent AYP Conference that CHI is sponsoring an annual scholarship to honor Jackie Sant-Myerhoff, CHI’s Director of Educational Programs who passed away last fall. Each year a worthy student will be awarded the Jackie Sant-Myerhoff Memorial Scholarship to participate in the CHI Academic Year Program. Jackie’s husband, Lee Myerhoff, expressed that he and his family are honored that Jackie’s memory will live on as future students become world ambassadors, participating in this program that Jackie so loved.
It was a wonderful Academic Year Program conference! We are already looking forward to next year!
