Meet Kairi!
Kairi is a 15-year-old student from Saitama, Japan, a city just north of Tokyo with a mix of big-city life and beautiful nature. She’s cheerful, active, and loves taking on new challenges.
She’s been playing basketball since she was nine, usually as a point guard, and her heroes are Stephen Curry and Rui Hajimira. Kairi also plays the piano and listens to pop music, which helps her relax and connect with others. On top of that, she studies Shuji, traditional Japanese calligraphy, and is excited to share this beautiful art with people in the U.S.
Kairi enjoys cooking, exercising, and practicing English in her free time. She studies about three hours a day, with English as her favorite subject. Her goal is to work in an international environment at an airport, and she’s excited to experience American culture, meet new people, and share a bit of Japan with her host family!
