Alaska’s Nikiski Middle/High School has been an amazing home for our high school exchange students this year. Located a few hours southwest of Anchorage, on the west coast of the beautiful Kenai Peninsula, Nikiski is a small town of about 4,500 people, with the school serving about 400 students.
The entire school community went above and beyond to ensure a fantastic experience for our Exchange Visitors attending high school there. The local students got to know their new classmates, shared their American and Alaskan culture, helped out when needed, and genuinely showed patience and understanding with any communication difficulties or cultural differences.
Students, parents, and staff truly made their guests feel like part of the community, and sent them off with a big finish – at graduation, they were presented with ‘Certificates of Attendance’ and allowed to dress in caps and gowns. Everyone who participated felt so special.
Thank you Nikiski Middle/High School! You made this experience one that all of your students will remember for the rest of their lives!
