Melina Vukusich recently spent three months in one of the most beautiful places in the world: Hawaii. She left her home in Argentina and spent her days as a lifeguard at the Aulani, a Disney resort & spa in Kapolei, along the west coast of the Hawaiian island of Oahu.
When asked about her experience Melina simply says, “It was perfect! What was so perfect? The place where I lived, my job, my roommates and co-workers. The landscapes, beaches, mountains, hikes, surf competitions, sunsets, and sunrises. “
Melina was thrilled to get to explore Hawaii through CHI’s Work & Travel program. “Hawaii is a destination that connects you with nature and gives you a different way of living day-to-day”, she says.
When asked what she would tell someone considering living abroad, she shares, “You may have a fear of traveling and living and working abroad, but that’s part of the experience. Believe me, you are going to have a good time. You are going to meet amazing people from different countries and you are going to learn new things.”
Every day, someone asks Melina what it was like to live and work in the U.S. When they ask her, she just smiles and remembers her amazing experience.
