Au Pairs Volunteer at NYC Marathon

On Sunday, November 1st, CHI au pairs had the opportunity to experience American volunteerism with the added thrill of watching and cheering 50,000 runners from 120 countries, at the annual New York City Marathon.

A group of Long Island au pairs, along with their Community Administrator, helped out at the Mile 18 fluid station in Harlem. They assisted with setup and handed out water and Gatorade to the runners.  They also cheered the athletes on as they ran by.

The au pairs said it was very exciting to see the runners up close and to hand them cups as they passed by.  They were thrilled to be part of such a prestigious event and to offer a bit of help.

Au pair Kateryna Bulat, from Ukraine, said “Thank you for this opportunity! It was amazing and [the] best experience in my life!”
