Amazing Male Au Pair: Fede from Paraguay

Amazing Male Au Pair: Fede from Paraguay 1

We want to give a huge shout-out to one of our amazing male au pairs, Federico Leguizamon (Fede), from Paraguay.

During his time as an au pair, Fede has embraced every opportunity you could possibly imagine. He’s visited amusement parks, ran races, gone boating, explored the beach and has managed to visit 22 different states all while being a dedicated and caring au pair to his host kids.  His host family absolutely loves him.

He is so welcoming to new au pairs and goes out of his way to help them get adjusted.  He is a fantastic person and we are so lucky to have him as a CHI Au Pair!

We asked Fede to share why he decided to become an au pair and what he loves most about the program.

“Three years ago, I was living my first experience in the USA with a different program, I loved it so much that I decided to come again. I knew some friends who did the Au Pair program. At the beginning I had no idea about it, I was super interested that my journey started there, they told me about everything and I start looking for agencies in my home country, it was hard at first. Some agencies didn’t accept me because they consider the Au Pair program  ‘isn’t for males’. Finally, I found the right one and they helped me with everything.

I considered it was a perfect program for me since I’ve worked with kids before, I wanted to improve my English skills and living with an American family would allow me to know their culture so much better.

It’s been a year already since I came to the U.S. as an au pair. I’ve had some hard moments but amazing memories as well.. this program gave me the opportunity to make a lot of friends around the world. I am learning every day from my host family, a family who’s open to learn about me and me from them too. I’m taking care of an 8-year-old girl and an 11 year old boy. When not taking care f the children I’ve had the opportunity to travel around the country. I’ve already been to 22 different states!

Being an au pair means taking on new responsibilities, experiencing highs and lows, doing all kinds of things for the very first time. These experiences made me grow and let me learn so much about myself.

I decide to live this adventure for one more year and I sure I’ll get the most out of this journey.”
