Cultural Ambassador Award

As a CHI Exchange Visitor in the United States, you are an ambassador for your country. The Cultural Ambassador Award (CAA) is an exciting opportunity to represent your country on a global platform in an effort to engage in cross-cultural experiences and increase mutual understanding and peace across nations.In 2018 19 distinguished winners from Cultural Homestay International’s (CHI’s) Summer Work & Travel program, representing 17 different countries, were chosen to participate in CHI’s Cultural Ambassador Award (CAA) conference, in Washington, DC. The attendees engaged in lively panel discussions with officials at the Educational Cultural Affairs division of the Department of State and listened to inspiring speakers address the power and value of public diplomacy and cultural exchange.

How to enter

Join the CHI Cultural Ambassador Award Facebook group, and post a 1 – 2 minute video introducing yourself, sharing your culture and how you intend to be an ambassador representing your  country duringyour CHI J-1 program – Summer Work Travel or CHI Camp Leaders. All entries must be submitted  individually. No group entries. American coworkers of exchange students, in your videos, please show us how you are sharing American culture with your international friends and what you have learned from them.

Eligibility

The CAA contest is open to active and in-good-standing summer 2019 CHI’s programs participants. We are also opening this contest to American colleagues who work closely with our students!

Deadline

CAA video submissions are due by July 1st 2019. Winners will be announced on July 10th 2019.

Awards

CHI CAA winners will receive a 3-day all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the CAA seminar and join other Ambassadors to discuss topics related to cultural exchange in the United States and abroad.
