San Francisco exchange visitors and friends celebrated Exchange Day on August 5th by gathering at the trendy Hotel Zephyr in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf. The theme of CHI’s official San Francisco celebration was “Eat, Play, Give”, and attendees appropriately enjoyed tasty food, played fun games, shared good conversation, and most importantly, gave back to their community.
Local participants from the Work & Travel, Internship/Training and Au Pair programs were all invited, and a multitude of countries were represented. Guests also included local host employers, coworkers, and friends. In keeping with the theme of “Eat, Play, Give”, the San Francisco Fire Department showed up as special guests and were presented with a huge box of donated toys for children in need. In turn, the firefighters allowed attendees to sit in the two fire trucks they had brought to the party, as well as try on their (very heavy) fire coats.
The afternoon was filled with games, including billiards, table tennis and shuffleboard, and of course, delicious food was on the menu. Winners of the games and photo contests took home great prizes, including gift certificates to local tourist attractions as well as a GoPro, an instant camera, and Beats headphones. The event was fun for all, and participants left the party with new Exchange Day t-shirts and CHI goodie bags!
San Francisco wasn’t the only party for this nationwide celebration – CHI was proud to be a part of a number of additional Exchange Day events across the country, with participants gathering in Myrtle Beach, SC, Orlando, FL, Minneapolis, MN, Galveston, TX, Old Orchard Beach, ME, New York, NY, Altoona, IA and Wildwood, NJ to celebrate international exchange. This really was our best Exchange Day yet!
