Justin Kim Castillo spent his school break in the spring of 2015 participating in CHI’s Work and Travel program. Justin, from the Philippines, was working at Downtown Aquarium Houston where he had an amazing experience. He enjoyed it so much he then joined CHI’s Internship program and returned to Texas to intern at the Hotel Galvez and Spa in Galveston, Texas.  Justin was an exemplary exchange visitor.

On January 12, 2020, Justin and his family evacuated their home in Taal Batangas City, Philippines when the Taal volcano erupted. When we learned of this we knew we had to help. CHI’s next 40 Act of Kindness Around the World for 2020 was to send Justin and his family care packages.

CHI’s Summer Work and Travel Department Main Office in San Rafael, CA donated food, clothes, shoes, personal care items and more.  CHI sent two boxed care packages to the Philippines for all the family members ages 1 to 75 years old.

Justin continues to amaze us with his own acts of kindness delivering care packages to his community.  After returning home finding their homes and streets covered with ashes; he joined a group to help in the clean-up helping others.  Our heartfelt thoughts are with our friends in the Philippines during their recovery.
