CHI Au Pair USA is proud to announce Romanian au pair Edina Gabri as the winner of our 2nd annual Au Pair of the Year contest.
Host families were asked to nominate an au pair by writing a letter explaining how their au pair goes above and beyond. CHI Au Pair USA was thrilled to receive some wonderful nomination letters. All Au Pair of the Year nominees have made an exceptional difference in their host families’ lives on a daily basis, and serve as terrific examples of what being an au pair is all about.
Each nomination letter was read carefully, and while all were worthy nominees, CHI Au Pair USA chose Edina as our winner due to her wonderful story, and her exemplary positive impact on her host family. Here is a bit about Edina and her Virginia host family, Ian and Kimberly Begg:
The members of the Begg family were not strangers to having an au pair; Edina is in fact their fifth. While all have enriched their lives, Edina is the first they have nominated for Au Pair of the Year. With five children under the age of eight, the Begg household is a busy one, and from the moment Edina joined their family it was a perfect match. “Edina Gabri became a part of our family as soon as she arrived at our Virginia home from Romania”, says host mom Kimberly. “She said her English was not very good, but it was nearly perfect. She was kind and patient and helpful. She anticipated what our family needed, so we could better enjoy our time together.”
In addition to being a wonderful au pair, Edina was there for the family when Kimberly had a complication after having her youngest child. While in the hospital being treated with a serious condition, Edina was a great support for the entire family and allowed Kimberly to focus on her health and recover. “Edina was a friend, a daughter and a sister to Ian and me during that time”, recounts Kimberly. “She was a godsend to our children and our family.”
We are thrilled that the Begg family and Edina found each other, and we are so happy to name Edina our 2015 Au Pair of the Year!
As the winner, Edina receives a $100 Amazon gift certificate. In addition, the second and third place winners each receive a $50 Amazon gift certificate. CHI is proud to work with such talented and caring individuals as participants in our program. Please take a moment to read their nomination letters. Congratulations to all our nominees!
