CHI Helps Group Homestay Students Affected by Japan Tsunami Visit Oregon

This past summer, TOMODACHI and Coca-Cola partnered to arrange a three-week homestay program in the USA for Japanese high school students from the areas affected by last year’s earthquake and tsunami.  The program was conceived with the idea of helping young students who might have otherwise missed out on these kinds of opportunities due to circumstances beyond their control get the support they needed to make their American group homestay dreams a reality.

CHI is proud to have been one of the organizations selected by TOMODACHI and Coca-Cola to participate in the program.  While groups were sent to a number of different areas around the country, our Japanese students arrived in Oregon on July 25th, and were recently featured in a news segment on KPTV FOX 12 in Portland.  The station caught up with the group at Portland State University and shared their story.
