Cultural Homestay International Hosting Exchange Day Service Events Across the Nation
San Rafael, CA, August 5, 2019 – On Monday, August 5, 2019 Cultural Homestay International (CHI) will participate in Exchange Day, a nationwide celebration of the power of international exchanges and an opportunity to raise awareness of educational and cultural exchange programs. CHI will be hosting its main event at the Hotel Zephyr in San Francisco, bringing participants, alumni, and the local community together for a day of service between 4pm and 7pm.
In partnership with the San Francisco Fire Department, attendees will collect toys for children in need as a way to give back to their local community. The event is open to all CHI exchange visitors in the area, American hosts, elected officials’ offices and community members.
Exchange program participants will also join in Exchange Day events in communities that have long embraced their summertime international visitors, such as Wildwood, New Jersey, Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Galveston, Texas. More events in partnership with local organizations will be held in cities and towns in Alaska, Iowa, Illinois, New York, Florida and Missouri, providing more opportunities for exchange visitors to join in a day of service across the US.
Marie Royce, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, recently stated her support for the initiative: “Exchange Day encourages and inspires our alumni and participants to take action and practice the lessons of cultural appreciation and understanding. These actions strengthen their own communities and share what they have learned through Exchange Programs.”
Under the motto “Eat, Play, Give,” cities across the United States will hold similar events providing international exchange program participants, alumni, and their hosts an opportunity to enjoy American cuisine, share cultural diversity and customs, and give back to their local communities.
CHI invites host employers, elected officials, and the media to this local event, and encourages attendees to also join in the social media campaign. Participation in this event, either in person or virtually, will help spread the word about the impact and breadth of international exchange programs in the United States.
