Lan Dang, from Vietnam, is currently participating in CHI’s Hospitality Internship program at Omni Mt.Washington Resort in New Hampshire. Lan arrived in December and took the time to share a brief essay on her experience living an interning in the U.S and gives some exchange student advice.
“It’s been a few months since I arrived at this wonderful Mt Washington Hotel. Everything is very well for me. I feel so glad and lucky I am here. I have the best internship with the world’s greatest teammates. Being a bell person is not an easy thing for a girl however my teammates help me a lot. My boss, Ben, is the best boss. Besides training me how to handle different situation, he showed me how to be a good team player. I made many friends from many nations such as US (of course), Serbia, Uzbekistan, Philippines, etc. They are all very nice. Especially Richard, who is my best friend here. He took me out to fruit market, Chutter, Zeb’s and Walmart. So far I have learned that difficulties and obstacles are everywhere we go. However, what’s important is our attitude toward these obstacles. You must face problems with a smile. Gratitude helps us to search for peace and satisfaction. My advice for other exchange students: Make friends! Be thankful! Be optimistic and smile! And of course work hard! I am so thankful for what I have here.”
