CHI is proud to coordinate volunteer opportunities for Short Term Enrichment Program (STEP) participants at the prestigious Maritime Museum of San Diego and the USS Midway Museum. Our exceptional volunteers help out in a variety of ways. Last summer, CHI STEP participants assisted in translating the Maritime Museum’s pamphlet into Mandarin Chinese and recorded the Mandarin audio tour that is currently being used this summer. Our exchange visitors are truly making a difference during their short stay.
During a recent visit to San Diego, Mr. Warren Potts, the Maritime Museum’s director of international relations, told CHI, “the students are marvelous at what they do!” Mr. Potts also mentioned that he had just returned from China and met five of his past students in Shanghai. He said a few students traveled seven hours to meet him. He feels so thankful to CHI for introducing him to these amazing individuals and is excited about another successful summer.
