Over the summer the Work and Travel Department went on a field trip to San Francisco to visit Ghirardelli Square where we have some students placed. We took a few moments to chat with Ghirardelli managers Cynthia and John Paul who both said that our participants were doing a wonderful job!
CHI has been recruiting students from several different countries to work at Ghirardelli including Romania, China, Russia, Moldova, Bosnia and Serbia. While some participants were currently working at AT&T Park serving hot chocolate, we were able to spend time with Russian W&T participant Anna Polukhina.
Anna works as a cashier and lives in San Francisco with a roommate who also works at Ghirardelli and comes from Romania. She told us she has really enjoyed her program and has had a great time working for Ghirardelli. She couldn’t stop smiling and finally she said, “I can’t believe you guys are really here!”
After a few hours we left Ghirardelli Square with a sweet taste in our mouths and a lovely feeling in our hearts.
