
Since 2011, the Cobb Charolais Ranch in Montana has successfully hosted CHI exchange visitors as agricultural interns. Their first intern, Jack Mothiba from South Africa, set the bar pretty high for all subsequent participants. The interns’ supervisor, Sarah Howe-Cobb, goes on to describe how hosting international interns “has brought the world to them,” enriching their lives and the family ranch’s cultural awareness.
The Cobb Ranch has become a second family to these international participants who have chosen the U.S. for their exchange experience. Representing various countries in different continents, CHI participants have brought their unique views. “So far, in 9 years, we have had five South Africans, five Brazilians, one from Kyrgyzstan, one from Turkey and one now from Pakistan. Our newest intern for 2021 will come from Uganda.”
