Japanese Exchange Student Attends High School in the U.S.

Momoka Nakagawa, from Japan, has experienced both the CHI Academic Year Program as well as the Private High School Program. Momoka first attended her sophomore year at Petal High School in Mississippi. After going home to Japan, she returned to the U.S. to attend private high school at Christian Collegiate Academy in Gulfport, MS. Momoka is now a senior and in May will graduate from a U.S. high school.

We checked in with Momoka and she shared the following thoughts and photos:

“I can’t believe that it’s already November and almost end of the year!!! I am really surprised how fast the time goes by….

I’ve really enjoyed my school year as a senior and spent time with my friends and my host families. I’ve experienced so many things I’ve never done before like mud riding, cheerleading, trick or treat, homecoming, petting chickens, going on a cruise, ect.

The classes that I’m taking are getting harder and harder, and homework is so much, but I love my school where I go to and I love my classmates and teachers who help me when I am struggling. I’m so happy that I have a lot of great people around me.

It’s so sad that this is my last year as an exchange student, but I’m enjoying every moment of my life in America!!!!”
