Over the summer CHI held its first Cultural Ambassador Award (CAA) conference, in Washington, DC for Summer Work & Travel participants. Fourteen distinguished winners were chosen for this conference including Igor Pak, from Uzbekistan. Igor has since returned home and has continued his CHI Ambassadorship by promoting diplomacy and world peace.
Igor was recently chosen to participate in Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) Model United Nations featuring the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. After an extensive application process in which candidates were asked to have a deep understanding of the current issues and strategies of the UNESCO, 23 candidates were chosen to represent 23 different countries.
Igor was chosen as a Delegate of Canada in order to express views and ideas of Canada during the ongoing conference. The conference was held on January 15, 2018. The topic of the meeting was “the Crisis in Syria – protecting Historical Heritage within the country”. The delegates discussed how to protect cultural sites in Syria and prevent further destruction.
There will be an additional conference in March that Igor will also attend. We are extremely proud of Igor and the success he has achieved since completing his Summer Work and Travel program. He is truly taking his international experience and using it to make the world a better place. We are extremely proud of him.
