On March 27th, an excited group of Japanese exchange students met their American host families for the first time. The group arrived in Arlington, WA as part of CHI’s Group Homestay Program.

While they were tired from a long flight, they were also excited to start experiencing the United States. They spent their first two days visiting Haller Middle School, where they attended classes and shared their culture with American students.
During their week and a half visit they’ll get to visit a senior center, tour City Hall, chat with local police and firefighters, try new foods, and practice their English. They will also make amazing connections with their American host parents and host siblings. We can guarantee that their sayonara (goodbye) party will be filled with tears – from having to say farewell too quickly! We hope we will have the chance to see our new friends again soon!
