Participant from China Shares her Experience

Tammy Tang, from China, recently completed CHI’s Short Term Enrichment Program (STEP).  She spent two months learning the ins and outs of the hotel industry at the Governor’s Inn in New Hampshire.  Tammy took the time to share her experience with us.

“I’m so proud that I complete my two-month internship at The Governor’s Inn with Lisa (my mentor). I learned a lot of things from her. She provided me the chance to try different things at the hotel.  I learned things not only related to event planning, coordinating and making reservations, but also that relate to hotel operation, marketing, webpage designing and administration. In addition, I also met new friends here and we hung out together.

I’m so lucky to stay with my host mother Judy during these two months. She took me to visit destinations around Dover and meet her family and friends. I tried many new things like driving a boat. Judy also taught me how to cook in a Western way.

For me, STEP is an amazing program.  It allows you to see different culture of the U.S. and meet different people and learn how to communicate and be with them.”
