Reflections from an Intern in New Orleans

Over the holidays we wrote about Hospitality Internship participant Lyka Tadeo, from the Philippines, and what a wonderful time she was having in New Orleans.  Lyka has followed up with us, sharing a few more pictures and some stories from her time here in the U.S.  Lyka arrived in October and will be at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Bourbon Street for one year.  She still has a lot of time left and plans to make the most of it!

Lyka reflects on some of her favorite moments so far…

” This is Lyka Tadeo and I am in New Orleans Louisiana.  I am working at Royal Sonesta Hotel under Food and Beverage Department as a server-bartender in the VIP floor lounge of the hotel which is called “RClub”.  I arrived here last October 29,2014.  I’ve experienced lots of fun and many parades.  The first was the Halloween Parade and I really enjoyed it a lot! There were lots of people participating and they threw lots of stuff. The highlight was that the parade happened at night!

Upon arrival in general I was surprised by the amazing performers and musicians in the French Quarter. While on vacation, I went to Texas and Mississippi. I enjoyed a lot.  The recent activity that has happened was the Masquerade Party of Sonesta for all of the employees and staff which was held at the Roosevelt Hotel.

I love this city a lot and I really am enjoying every moment I’m here. I love the noise, the crowded places during weekends, the happy people, the tourists, and all of the happenings here. I have only been here a few months but I really like it! Looking forward to many more parades, parties and celebrations in the future!”
