Ellie Wharton had a fantastic experience welcoming CHI Internship participant David Ramos (Davo) to KWRH Radio in Webster Groves, MO.
Davo spent 10 months at the radio station where he helped with recording, editing, production, sports coverage and was even on the air. He was a terrific intern.
“The young people who are a part of this program are the cream of the crop from their countries. I would highly recommend any business to give these young people an opportunity to show what they know.”
See what else Ellie had to say about her experience as an Internship host business:
“I am very happy to tell you about my experience as a host business. I hosted an exceptional young man from Bogota, Colombia. He was better than we had ever imagined an intern could be. He was courteous, well-trained, cooperative, thoughtful, witty, and just fun to be with.
I got to meet his entire family, who visited him twice during the year, and we still stay in touch. In fact, when he left the radio station, he created a void because his talents were so tremendous.
We learned so much about his culture and he took full advantage of getting to know St. Louis and the local activities. When he graduated from university, my mother and I went to Colombia and stayed with his family for his graduation. We had a ball! They treated us just like we were family. I got to meet the grandparents, all of the aunts and uncles and cousins. They took us sightseeing and out for fabulous meals. I really fell in love with this family and with Colombia.
It has been quite a challenge for me to find an American intern whose skills even come close to our intern. If I had it to do over again, I would do my best to hire him permanently. It was the best experience EVER!
I think the young people who are a part of this program are the cream of the crop from their countries. I would highly recommend any business to give these young people an opportunity to show what they know. “
