Each year, the International Au Pair Association (IAPA) asks Au Pair host families to help them select an Au Pair of the Year. Host families nominate their au pair by writing a letter explaining how their au pair goes above and beyond.
On November 23 CHI au pairs from all over the Washington DC Metro region celebrated International Au Pair Day 2019 by being a sponsor at the Rochambeau French International School’s French Winter Market in Bethesda, MD.
Eight exchange visitors from CHI Au Pair representing six nations joined over 12,000 volunteers at the 49th New York City Marathon which took place on Sunday, November 3, 2019. Their local CHI Community Administrator from Long Island, Renee Turkiewicz, assisted and volunteered alongside the group.
Alina Derickx, from the Netherlands, has made a point to explore as much of the US as possible during her Au Pair program. Last year she went on a 10-day cross country road trip driving through Virginia, New York and Chicago. This year she is planning a 27-day road trip that will cover 7,200 miles!
Nayama Mielle Lima, from Brazil, decided to become an au pair after graduating college with a degree in social sciences. It was her desire to experience a new culture, meet new people, travel and improve her English that led her to the program. While her first host family wasn’t a perfect match, she soon joined the Wilkinson family and started taking care of their two children, Oliver and Elias.
CHI Au Pair Abbie, from the United Kingdom, is a huge help to her host family. They have five children and they can’t imagine life without Abbie!
We want to give a huge shout-out to one of our amazing male au pairs, Federico Leguizamon (Fede), from Paraguay. During his time as an au pair, Fede has embraced every opportunity you could possibly imagine all while being a dedicated and caring au pair to his host kids. His host family absolutely loves him.
Being a seasoned Host Mom and a Local CHI Coordinator, Christina Busso can probably write a short story novel. Christina has been a coordinator with CHI Au Pair for over six years. She has also been a host mom to 13 Au Pairs (and counting!).
