Partner Responsibilities
CHI partners promote the Work & Travel program to potential participants for the purpose of increasing the mutual understanding between the people of their country and those of the United States. This program must be promoted as a genuine cultural exchange program with a focus on fostering cooperation, understanding, and sharing between cultures and nations. Applicants should be university students with good English skills who want to use the program to broaden their appreciation of American culture and gain career skills.
Summary of Partner Duties
- Pre-screen the applicants, ensuring they meet the application criteria: namely, they are independent and mature individuals who are able to work and live for up to 4 months in the U.S.
- Review the participant‘s finances, ensuring they are taking care of themselves while living in the U.S.
- Ensure that the applicant‘s work expectations are realistic – these are entry level positions at seasonal or temporary jobs.
- Ensure that the applicants view the mandatory orientation.
- Prepare a pre-departure orientation with all students.
- Ensure the participants are able to communicate in English and work in an English speaking environment.
