Japanese Exchange Student Wins Art Contest

AYP StudentBefore classes ended at Coronado High School in Lubbock, TX, CHI Academic Year Program student Hiroyo Masuada, from Japan, was announced as one of three winners in a local art contest.

Hiroyo’s art teacher wrote the following message:

“I am proud to announce a couple of last-minute contest winners from my Art I classes this year.   My art classes, earlier this semester, participated in creating posters for the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas, a local provider of free education and credit counseling, and PlainsCapital Bank call for entries for the 2013 Financial Literacy Poster Contest, themed Saving for Success!.

The contest promotes personal finance topics, such as budgeting and saving, and provides a creative outlet for students to express themselves.  Students in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Lubbock and San Antonio participated, each individual city would yield three winners and two of our own took two of the winning spots for Lubbock!”

As one of the winners Hiroyo received a framed copy of the poster she created as well as a check for $100.  Her art work will be on display at the Federal Reserve of Dallas.

Congratulations!
